The News Lens Wins Silver Award for Excellence in Opinion Writing at SOPA 2023 Awards

The News Lens has won the Silver Award (Honorable mention) for Excellence in Opinion Writing at the 2023 SOPA Awards for Editorial Excellence.

In 2022, Xi Jinping was re-elected as the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party for a record third term. While many media outlets criticized his desire to consolidate control, the op-ed argued that our evaluation of Xi and the CCP was tinged with misunderstanding. Through this article, we hope to provide new ways to look at the re-elected leader of the regime.
